Pankaj’s research project is to understand the regulation of Myelin Proteolipid Protein Gene expression in brain by intron 1 elements. With the use of PLP1-lacZ transgenic mice and transfection analysis, he is investigating the role of the first intron elements. In the picture, he is observing the confluency of Oligodendroglial precursor cell line Oli-neu under the light microscope for a transfection-deletion analysis experiment.

Sarah’s project is investigating the role of osteocytes in driving high bone turnover in osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic brittle bone disease. She has generated a new mouse model for this project, and is characterizing this mouse’s phenotype using bone histomorphometry techniques (shown in picture)
